Food Safety

In 2020, Senmi Ekisu was certified under FSSC 22000, an international standard for food safety management systems, and in 2022, under HACCP certification for seafood food processing facilities. In 2023, the company acquired MSC CoC and ASC CoC certifications, international certifications on use of sustainable marine products throughout the supply chain that enhance responsible raw material procurement, product reliability and brand value.

With these certifications, we will continue to provide safe and high-quality products under a strict management system that prevents food contamination and violations of laws and regulations before they ever occur, including the above-mentioned FSSC 22000 (food safety system certification) and HACCP for marine food processing facilities. In addition to the production of safe, high-quality products, we are strengthening our systems to provide products while considering environmental conservation and corporate social responsibility under the SDGs.

Quality Assurance

Senmi Ekisu has established a system to provide instructions and confirmations to guarantee quality in product development, raw material procurement, manufacturing processes, distribution and sales. We also conduct different inspections to verify that our management system is functioning effectively.

Our quality assurance approach consists of the following three key management systems with the goal of creating safe and secure products.

    (1) Raw Material Management

    In order to procure safe raw materials, we confirm their safety by carefully selecting suppliers and conducting in-house acceptance inspections.

    (2) Process (Hygiene) Control

    We have a complete set of work procedures and records in the factory, and conduct manufacturing control to ensure there aren't any problems in each process before proceeding to the next.
    Further, we conduct thorough maintenance inspections of the equipment used and daily hygiene management to create a sanitary environment.

    (3) Quality Control

    We have established a quality control system that includes product control for each production lot, spot inspections, information disclosure of labeling and claims, shipment records, traceability through a series of management systems and food defense initiatives.
